And one day you’ll realise no one is indispensable in anyone’s lives.
Moving on is human nature.
There was this person everyday, every waking hour you looked for them, there was this person behind your eyelids at night, there was this person in the sunlight at dawn.
You’ll tell stories then : “ Once there was this person… “
Because suddenly they aren’t there. Suddenly you wake up and they don’t call for you, suddenly you look around and they don’t stand next to you. And it hurts. It’s human nature to hurt when change comes. But change comes. And change makes you adapt.
Then there is you everyday, every waking hour, alone yet functioning properly. There is you walking to get groceries, there is you drinking your fifth cup of chai, there is you swiping on social media, there is you at dawn, at night, at mid mornings, in afternoons.
This you is you but not you. This you is the one who healed after breaking into pieces, this you is flexing her hand and finding no one’s in it, this you is crying to sleep at night, this you is breathing quietly through a panic attack.
But one day this you wakes up and does not cry, wakes up and does not break into pieces, wakes up and finally smiles. This you is in the future, she is strong, so determined to race to her dreams, this you is passionate and kind, this you would never hurt another the way she was hurt.
That you will take days, maybe years, decades to come but that you will be worth it. She’ll be worth all of it.
