It’s suffocating now
To be stuck inside
These walls when—
The ocean roars in the winds
Outside, away and free
The sun splits the sky into
Colours—red and honey
My shoes are now filled with cobwebs
In the racks alone
They used to be scrapped in the sand
Forgotten by the stones
I can’t hear myself in here
Drowned by the daily news
Let the waves hit me
Sand wash my feet
I’ll leave my footprint down there
A mark bittersweet.
